| Report: | Giant Killing Glory: Back to Winning Ways!
Back to winning ways, well, almost all of us, against a team sitting 2nd in the league. A proper giant killing to savour!
Mark G – Clinical 3–0 Romp
Mark G and I kicked things off. Didn’t catch much of his match, but I know his opponent Eric well from past battles – no pushover. Mark wasted no time, ruthlessly romping to a 3–0 victory with minimal effort. Perfect start!
Captain – Rusty Struggle
My match? Narrowly dropped the first, then crumbled: timing off, footwork sloppy, shots too predictable. Need more regular squash to sharpen up – lesson learned.
Mark L – Five-Game Epic
Scored Mark L’s marathon, the only five-gamer. Two stocky units clashing: lets and strokes everywhere as they charged for far balls. Mark’s clever delays, body play, and smart placement exploited every inch. Games swung wildly with dominance phases and comebacks; opponent self-berated loudly for motivation. Mark’s stamina sealed a gritty 3–2 (hamstring tightening late, heroic!).
Luke – Quality Clincher
Luke faced real pressure but had that extra class in clutch rallies, turning tight games into a demoralising 3–0 for his opponent. Stone-cold finisher!
David – Tactical 3–0 Masterclass
Caught the end of David’s match against Andy (familiar from last year’s pre-Xmas Welly friendly). We’d both bickered with scorer Aaron over forgotten handicaps – he ditched official scoring for our chaos and bailed happily! David spotted Andy’s bad back (no running), so peppered drops and made him move anyway. Convincing 3–0 clinic! |
